There is no destination. The experience of culinary arts is one of discovery, of the journey, of pursuing even greater knowledge and skills. It is better to eat well than to simply eat, and to eat well is a limitless pursuit of personal improvement. It is true that there are basic skills that once mastered lend to the cook the ability to develop and create food that is truly satisfying. Stay hungry my friend...stay hungry!
Many people misunderstand what a chef is. A chef is more than the cook in the jacket. There is no such thing as chef school. There are culinary schools, there are cooking schools, but there is no chef school. A chef is a leader in the kitchen. A chef is a position, not a person, not a degree, and certainly not something bestowed upon a person because they have some sort of a diploma. A chef is a cook who is skilled, yes, but in more areas than simply cooking. Don't get hung up on the idea of what a chef is, but rather focus on being the best culinarian. Remember, eating well and living well are dependent upon more than a title.
